A Note on Transliteration
In order to simplify the new learner's task, portions of I Can Speak Vietnamese use a writing system called Pinyin that presents Vietnamese words using the English alphabet. Vietnamese is normally written using a system of special characters that are very different from the English alphabet. Pinyin represents the sounds of Vietnamese in a way that is more recognisable to English speakers.
